Apples Ipod shuffle is one of the most popular ipod models out there. Not only does it provide a sleek compact alternative the its larger counterparts, it also packs a solid state hard drive that promises to play back your music quickly, skip free, and for a long time since flash hard drives have low draws on your batteries power supply.

The ipod shuffle has gone through some major evolutions as the different generations have come and gone. Apple seems to play and experiment a lot more than normal with the Shuffle since it is so cheap to produce, and cheap to buy. The first generation Ipod Shuffle was revolutionary in that it had no display, just a couple buttons. It looked very much like your standard USB key, but with Apple's signature styling of course. It was a big hit, I've owned two over the years (the first one I left on an airplane on my way to Japan...)

The second generation Ipod Shuffle was similar, but even more portable. It was smaller and featured a super cool clip so you could clip it on to any part of your clothing and wear it comfortably and conveniently. Many people even started sporting their colorful ipod shuffles as a fashion statement. The signature white headphones were in everybodies ears... kind of like a doctor who episode...

Finally, the new 3rd generation Ipod Shuffles have been released. Apple has gone a whole new radical direction now and taken away ALL of the buttons on these. It is called the Ipod Talk since it talks to you and tells you what song is being played. You in turn interact with it by talking back. The microphone is in the headphones that come with the ipod, all you do is speak your mind and it listens. People are complaining since it means you are stuck with Apple's headphones, but let's face it, this is a pretty cool little gadget, and for the price, its really cheap!
